Respiratory Therapy Degrees

For someone who want to become a respiratory therapist make sure you know which degree you want based on your career goals and live situation. There are a couple of different options to earn a degree.

Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy Degree

Typically an associate of science in respiratory therapy degree will help prepare you with the basic skills and principles you will need to know in order to take the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) credentialing exam. This type of a degree typically takes two years to complete.

Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Degree

If you already have a sound education and a good understanding of the cardiopulmonary sciences this may be a good option to consider. This type of a degree typically takes four years to complete. However an accelerated program may be available.

One thing to keep in mind with respect to the Associate Vs Bachelor degree in Respiratory therapy is what your career will entail. The bachelors may provide better pay and better career opportunities as well as job duties. As with anything education related do your homework to compare all your options.
